The Accuplacer Test is administered Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 3:30 PM at the Enrollment Center on a walk-in basis. Last testing time starts at 3:30PM.
Please note: A photo ID is required to take the Accuplacer Test. NO EXCEPTIONS!
Monday - Friday testing takes place in the Main building (map, building 4) Parking is available in structure 8.
Students are highly encouraged to take a practice test before testing. Please e-mail email@example.com for information on taking an online practice test. This practice test gives instant feedback, results and you can take it from home.

The admissions requirements are:
An ACT subscore of an 18 or higher in each category of math, reading and English, plus a high school GPA of 2.0 or higher, or 12 college credits with a GPA of 2.0 or higher. Students who do not meet these requirements will be required to take the related component of the Accuplacer placement test. If you have not applied, please go to www.grcc.edu/apply to fill out our application prior to signing up for a Saturday Accuplacer testing date.
What is the Accuplacer placement test?
The Accuplacer placement test is for students who are planning on attending Grand Rapids Community College. This test is a computerized assessment designed to help to identify your basic skill level in Reading, English and Math. The Accuplacer is not a pass or fail test. The results will help you and your Counselor develop an appropriate academic plan at GRCC and will determine what classes best fit your academic needs.

What subjects does the Accuplacer Test cover?
Reading Comprehension This test contains 22 questions. Some ask you to decide how two sentences are related. Questions are answered after reading passages of various lengths.
Writing The essay test asks for the type of academic writing you are likely to experience as part of your college coursework.
Math (Elementary Algebra, Arithmetic) Students will take at least one and possibly both of the 14-19 question Math tests.

Who needs to take the Accuplacer Test?
- High School Graduates (GPA below 2.0) - You are required to take all sections of the Accuplacer test if your high school GPA is below 2.0.
- High School Graduates (GPA 2.0 or higher) - If your ACT score is below 18 for reading, English, or math you are required to take the corresponding Accuplacer test. For example, you score a 17 on math, a 16 on English, and a 22 on the reading poritions of the ACT, you would need to take the math and writing Accuplacer tests.
- College Transfer Students - Individuals who have applied to GRCC with a College Transcript, but do not have a 2.0 overall GPA with at least 12 credits earned will be required to take all portions of the Accuplacer.
- GED Students - Individuals who have submitted a GED as a part of the GRCC application must complete all components of the Accuplacer test before being admitted to GRCC.
When you have completed the tests, you will see a report of your scores on the screen and you will receive a printed report of your scores. You will also receive recommended courses for you to enroll in.

The English and Math courses you are placed in are required to be completed before you will be able to register for any other English or Math courses. Reading is a recommended placement. Re-testing is allowed but there is a fee of $20.00 to retake the test. A one week period must pass before a re-test is permitted.
New students for Winter 2013 who have placed into 2 or more AFP classes (EN 097, MA 095, RD 097, RD 098) are required to take PY 097 their first semester at GRCC. Student who place into PY 097 will have a registration hold and must register through a counselor. The student needs to complete PY 097 with a grade of C- or higher before their registration hold is lifted.
Your test scores and the information you provide when taking the tests will only be provided to The College Board and to Grand Rapids Community College. The information may be used for counseling, advisement and placement purposes only.

Walk-in testing available -- no appointment required. First come, first serve basis. Children are not allowed in the testing area, nor can they be left unattended while you take the test. Off-site Accuplacer Testing
Accuplacer testing can be done at another institution. It is the student's responsibility to find a school that will administer the test. If a school is found and you choose this option, an Accuplacer Remote Testing Request Form must be completed and submitted. Please allow two business days to process your request.
