FastTrack Program

What is FastTrack?

FastTrack is an intensive three-week learning lab in which students strengthen their academic and study skills through a combination of web-based and professional tutor-guided activities. Subjects offered are Math and Integrated Reading & Writing (IRW). 

Purpose

The purpose of the FastTrack program is to give students an opportunity to accelerate skill-building through guided support and structured tutoring.  It is designed to help students bypass ONE of the following required courses: IRW 097, 098, 099 or MA 097, 098, 099.  Students may move directly into college-level courses after participation. 

Benefits

The FastTrack program is free to qualifying students.  You will have the opportunity to save $600 (in-district) or $1,200 (out-of-district) in tuition, fees, and books if you bypass one developmental education course.

Eligibility

To be eligible, students need to have taken at least one placement test and have at least one score that falls within the following ranges: 

Subject FastTrack Qualifying Score
Accuplacer English/Writing 1 - 5
ALEKS PPL Math 4 - 29
**In order to participate, students must not have started their class sequence within their eligible subject.**

Interested?

To participate in FastTrack, students are required to meet with a Success Coach for an intake appointment. Intake appointments will last approximately 60 minutes and takes place at the College Success Center, Grand Rapids or Midtown Center, Holland.

During the intake appointments, students will:

  • Meet with a success coach to discuss education goals, identify barriers to success, connect with resources, and select their FastTrack session;
  • Complete a Road Map to Success (pre-semester checklist);
  • Schedule an academic advising appointment to complete a Success Plan;
  • Register for New Student Orientation (if needed);
  • Address questions regarding the financial aid process (if needed); and
  • Learn about the various support services and resources available on campus.
